Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Loved this story: a must read.

Nikki Beckett didn't realize what she was getting herself into when she chose to go to Everneath. But she realizes what she is missing and takes a chance at trying to get her life back. In the process she learns that Cole wasn't helping but destroying her while Jack well that part hummm we will see.

I don't remember Hades and Persphine story, but I loved this book. Enough that I didn't sleep well while reading I was trying to solve and fix the problems within the story. I love Jack and Nikki, and felt they were very easy to relate too.

14 & up is my personal recommendation!

Ephemeral by Addison Moore

In the middle of the woods Laken finds herself being chased. Running for her life from something or someone that seems to want her dead. That is until he rescues her. Sending her away telling her to never return to the woods, that they are not safe. She can't remember anything that has happened except for flying through a windshield, knowing it would be the end... Yet somehow she is here. How did this happen? And why are strangers claiming to be family and friends and why can she not remember them? Why does Laken remember a alcoholic mom and a little sister yet no dad. This reality that she is in is so drastically different. And names of loved ones from home seem to be here, but are they really?


I love this story it is so Addison Moore yet, so very different, zombies? People claiming to be loved ones, DNA agreeing but none of it makes sense. Oh me oh my! And chocolate heavenly chocolate. I love you more then I use to. Lol.

Read Addison Moore's Celestra series before reading this.

Not for any of my friends with teens wanting to read. 16 and up unless you are extremely comfortable with intense suggested sex.

Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross

This is book 2 in the Steampunk Chronicles:

 

Griffin, Finley, Emily and Sam are headed to America to save their friend Jasper Renn. And find out why he is accused of murder. Did he do it and who is Dalton? Upon arriving in America they find that they aren't the only ones who are looking for Jasper. Who is this mystery man and how will he hinder or help their progress in saving their friend.

 

I won't give much away: There is heartbreak, death and enough drama in between to keep you hooked. I love steampunk. And knowing that I can't read another Kady Cross novel anytime soon made me take WEEKS to finish this book. Not out of not loving, but because I dearly LOVE Finley and Griffin! I can't wait to see what is going to happen.

 

I give this 4 out of 5 stars.

Rapture by Lauren Kate

Rapture is the 4th and Final installment in the Fallen Series

 by Lauren Kate.

I have to say that I was beyond delighted in the end of this story.

I knew that there would be a twist of some kind with Lucifer, but didn't see this twist coming. I wondered if Luce was what we come to find out she is but really was pleased that she had to find out on her own, that no one could help her. I was saddened that someone had to die through Luce's hands to have her find out the truths. And most of all I was so glad it had a happy ending. Because of the nature of this book series I am leaving this quite vague... happy reading.

12 and up is the age range that is series is appropriate for~

Circle of Fire by Michelle Zink

Circle of Fire is book 3 in the Prophecy of the Sisters Trilogy by Michelle Zink

Locating the last key is one of the last things that Lia must do before she and Alice can meet. But Lia also has to figure out how to bring her sister from the dark side, and protect the world from the gate of Samael. Lia is saddened when she finds out that in her time away from her home that Alice has not only become friendly with James Lia's former boyfriend, but she is now engaged to him. But in the end I have to say I felt sorry for Alice, she was not everything you think. I really liked that way the story played out and left me with the story wrapped up neatly. I love the love story with Dimitri and Lia and would be delighted to have a spin off story with them.

I would recommend this to 16 and up. Only because of one scene in the the book. It isn't overly explicit but implied.

I rate this a 4 star book... really good!

Can Lia get the pages needed to solve the prophecy? And can she and her friends avoid the souls that want Lia to help them.

I was worried I wouldn't like this book, but just the opposite. I loved it. I loved the love story twist that is thrown in, and how it plays into what happens. I love the connection that occurs, and feel that there is more to his abilities then we are told in this book.

4 out of 5 stars!

Prophecy Sisters by Michelle Zink

Lia is saddened when her father mysteriously dies. But that is just the beginning of strange things that Lia learns. She quickly learns that her twin sister Alice has the power to speak to the other side, and knows things that Lia does not. Quickly Lia learns that she is part of an ancient prophecy and that she must choose to be the gate or stand against it.

I really enjoyed this book. And it has just enough of a love story to wonder where or how it comes in to play later. I love that the story left me hanging but not beyond desperate to pick up the next one.

Great for 12 and up!

The Promise by Jessica Sorensen

The Promise is Book 4 in the Fallen Star Series

Gemma and Alex made a blood promise to each other as children. Little did they know that they would forever be linked due to this. They have a connection so deep that to save the world and the star they must die, without their deaths the world ceases to exist. This book was actually my least favorite of this series. I felt that it didn't really end. I am happy with the quote end quote end.

I gave this 3 stars, didn't love it but didn't hate it.

Ages 12 and up can read this series.

Eve by Anna Carey

In the world that Eve grew up in she was raised as a orphan. And taught that men were evil, to do their studies and when the time came and they graduated they would be able to go on to college and then to the City of Sand. That the King had a place for everyone and life after the plague was wonderful. Little did Eve know that all that was being taught was not the truth, and that the truth was something more horrible then the plague. Arden another girl at Eve's school breaks the news to Eve that life after graduation isn't what they've been taught, that beyond the wall is not their next schooling. Eve is so upset that she gets sick, but what frightens her most is what if Arden is right? So late that night Eve goes in search of the truth...

I absolutely loved this book, but I love dystopian society novels. I find myself wondering if our society would ever have anything like this happen. It leaves me thinking, and trying to solve the book as I read. Wanting the next book to come out.

I gave this 4 stars.

The Savage Grace by Bree Despain

The Savage Grace is the 3rd book in the Dark Divine series. Because I don't want to give away this book, I'll just lightly summarize.The wolves are being hunted by the sheriff and anyone who is willing to hunt. With each howl the threat increases. Grace goes searching for Daniel. She is able to find Daniel and is able to bring him "back".
But someone dies, both of Grace's parents end up in the hospital and there is a battle.I struggled to finish this book, not because it wasn't good but it was one of the first series that I hated to see end. I really loved Grace and Daniel. I related to the family dynamic of the Divine household.  I was saddened by the end but felt it was the only end possible.

I can't wait to read another Bree Despain novel or series.

I would give this 4.5 stars so to drop it down it gets 4 out of 5.

"The mortal world is in a state of beautiful chaos and destruction, which will ultimately lead to an exquisite end." This is my favorite quote from the book. It is the best description of what takes place within the story.  Chaos of course is the theme of the book.

I struggled to read the first two books and even the beginning of this book, but I finally got it. I finally found the point of not wanting to put this book down. I struggled to stop long enough to take care of  my three kids =0). This book is a good book. It's the FINALLY the kind of book I normally read. And then like all of my other favorite series it left me hanging until  Tuesday, October 23 ,2012.

I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

People with powers lose them, the dead walk, and not everything is what it seems.

I really want to like this series, but it seems to fall short for me. I cannot put my finger on what I don't love about it. I know I don't love reading a book written for YA in a males voice (perspective). I also find the character Ethan somewhat whiny and a little pathetic. I also find that I want more action. I feel that just when it can get good the authors skip what can make this series amazing. I am hoping that I will find a way to connect to the characters, but being 2 books in it doesn't look promising.

I feel this book is like most YA books 14 and up.
I only rated this book 3 out of 5 stars.

The Lost Saint by Bree Despain

Grace saved Daniel, but can she save herself in the end? Or will she give in to the cravings that are coming at her full force. Will she share everything that is happening to her? When Daniel quits training Grace a mysterious stranger shows up to pick up the pieces and train Grace. But will he be the one to save Grace or destroy her in the end? And is Grace the only one keeping a secret? Daniel always seems to be busy and unable to talk. And more then that he seems like something is wrong but Grace cannot put her finger on it. Not to mention that Graces brother Jude is still missing. Will Grace go looking for Jude or will she let things be like everyone wants her to? And the phone call warning Grace leaves her with more questions then answers, who is coming for her, and what do they really want?


I love these characters. And once again was hooked. It is a middle book but didn't have the DRAGGING feeling that many middle books have. This was a BONUS!

Once again 5 out of 5 stars!

The Dark Divine by Bree Despain

When Daniel left without a trace three years ago, the last place Grace Divine expected to see him again is in her art class. And if seeing him wasn't shocking enough he is giving her pointers on how to fix the picture she drew of their childhood tree. Jude, Grace's older brother and Daniel's former best friend tells Grace that she isn't safe with Daniel. That he isn't who she thinks he is and that she must promise never to speak to him again. But like Grace says, the problem with a promise is that once you've made it, it is most likely going to be broken. Little does Grace know that you can run from the truth but in the end, it will either make you or break you. Can Grace live with the truth? Can she make the ultimate sacrifice? And in the end what will she lose?

I loved this book, I loved that it seems as if Grace's family is picture perfect. But that not everything is as it seems. Grace, Daniel and Jude are easy to like, and you fall in love with the idea of the story quickly. I cannot wait to see where the story will go. And how everything will be resolved in the end.

For me 5 out of 5 stars.

Her biggest fear is that she will end up sick, just like her mother.  The society tried to cure Lena's mother three times, but it didn't work. And what if she is just like her mother?

Lena and her best friend Hana prepare for the evaluations. Knowing that to be matched they need to get a good score. Especially for Lena, because of her family's history. Everyone knows what happened to Lena's mom.

Evaluation day comes and Lena and Hana wait outside to be ushered in. When Lena's time comes she looks for Hana but she is already gone, she must be doing her evaluation. Lena is put in a room and told to dress in the nearly see through gown. When ready Lena is lead into the evaluation room, four evaluators are waiting. They ask Lena the questions that she and Hana have practiced for months, but when they ask Lena her favorite color she answers gray. She starts to try and explain that she didn't mean gray, that she meant blue when chaos breaks out. Cows come rushing in and to Lena's shock she hears a noise above her, a boy...

I love this story. I loved that the disease is something most people have felt more then once in their life. It made me think back to the heart crushing feeling you get at the end of a relationship, it made me think that this book in it's own weird way is something I could see happening in an alternate universe. I am heartbroken wondering where this story could go, and almost desperate to find out.

I would give this a 5 out of 5 stars.

Expel is book 6 in the Celestra series by Addison Moore

I want to Preface by saying if you have not read Ethereal #1 in the Celestra series please do! This review will not make a lot of sense until you know the basic characters and story line. Then follow it up with Tremble #2, Burn #3, Wicked #4, Vex #5 and the newest installment Expel #6... also be aware that currently Addison Moore is a self published e-book author and is not currently out for hard back or paper back purchase.

Logan drags Skyla away as she cries because Gage is pinned to a tree, dying as she watches. Skyla cannot figure out why Logan will not let her help Gage and why he isn't either. Skyla is whisked away to a place with glass tubes blue liquid and the beautiful boy floating. It is then that Skyla realizes that she is once again in the transfer. Skyla is now on the warhorse looking for Marshall, she knows that it is him who did this to Logan and Gage the love of her life. Chasing around she finally finds Marshall screaming at him for doing "this" to them. Skyla is so angry that Marshall won't fess up to "this" she spits in Marshall's face. Marshall says," You have sealed your fate, Ms. Messenger. Mark my words, you will rue this day, lament it in tears. You will come to me on your knees sobbing, begging forgiveness. But I will tell you now and I will tell you then, you are on your own, Skyla. What becomes of this mess is upon your shoulders." Little does Skyla know that not only did she open Pandora's box, but those she loves, and trust the most are the one's that she should fear, run from and destroy given the chance.

Once again Addison Moore has written a literary Masterpiece, that left me hanging. With more twists and turns then in the last 5 books. Questioning who is the "good guy" and who is the "bad guy" and can you be both with a good cause. Wondering will Skyla quit making her life harder. Can she rid herself of Chloe? And in the end, can she win the war?

This is a 5 out of 5 star for me. But then again I am bias, I really LOVE Addison Moore's writing!

Lemon Tart by Josi S. Kilpack

Anne moved in across the street about 9 months ago. Quickly Sadie and Anne became friends. Anne needed a sitter and someone to help her with her little boy Trevor. Anne also wanted to learn how to cook, something Sadie had perfected over the years. But this morning, while making applesauce Sadie notices a police car in her neighborhood, something that just doesn't happen where she lives. Then she hears another police car. Shocked by this Sadie looks out the window and sees that they are at Anne's house. Sadie is so concerned she grabs her keys and runs to see what could possibly be going on at Anne's.   They ask Sadie why she is at Anne's house, Sadie explains that she helps watch Trevor for Anne when she is at work or needs help. Sadie explains to the officers that she has keys to Anne's place and can let them in. Quickly one of the officers ask if she knows much about Anne's place and if she can help point out anything that might be out of place. She walks the officers through the home pointing out some inconsistencies explaining why they are wrong. One officer is extremely unhappy that the other officer has asked for Sadie's help.  Anne's body is discovered in the backyard and due to no family in the area and Sadie not knowing how to contact them, she is asked to verify that the body is that of Anne's. Sadie is very upset to see the body and give a positive ID to the police that yes in fact Anne is dead and her son is missing.They send Sadie home letting her know that they will be back to speak to her. With great sadness Sadie starts to ponder who could have possibly killed Anne, where is Trevor and why did this happen. But little does Sadie know that there is so much more to this story then she ever thought possible.

This is an adult novel but is written by an LDS author, so it is something ANYONE 14 and up could read!
I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
It was a simple story, that had a great twist but I hated that it finally got good at the end.

Wings by Aprilynne Pike

Laurel moves from her beloved home in the woods. To a small city about 40 minutes away. Her dad has bought a bookstore and wants to be closer to it. After 10 years of being home schooled Laurel is in public school for the first time and not loving it. David is her first friend who she eats lunch with and finds out that maybe public school isn't quite as bad as she thought. That is as long as every chance she gets, she is able to get out of the school and enjoy the outdoors. David introduces Laurel to all of his friends and she quickly falls into the group, hanging out doing homework all the normal teen things. That is until one day Laurel feels a zit forming on her back. She figures it is just teenage things and that in a few days it will go away, when she mentions it to her mom her mom asks if she has started yet. Laurel says no but her mom reminds her not to worry that due to her being adopted they don't know the family history and it is probably normal. After a few days it isn't getting smaller it is drastically bigger and very uncomfortable. One morning Laurel awakes early and notices something very uniquely strange, something that changes her life forever.

Wings is a unique title for this book. I love the story it is unlike anything I have currently read. I can't wait to see where it will go from here.

This book does mention sex, it isn't extreme or beyond specific but PLEASE be aware of it. If you are unsure if you are comfortable with your YA reading please read first!

Rival Demons by Sarra Cannon

Rival Demons is the 5th book in Sarra Cannon's Peachville Demons Series.

Just because Harper and Mary Ann have made it to the Shadow world doesn't mean that they are safe. Or that any part of Harper's life will be easier. Now Lea seems to have secrets. Jackson cannot be her boyfriend. And Harper is all alone. With too many questions, no answers and nothing to do. And to top it off no one seems to want to get to know the humans.  Seeking answers Harper finds a way to study the hidden things in her new world. But in doing so she creates a new danger. Can Harper survive the trouble she gets into once again or will Jackson's drawings come true?

Oh my GOODNESS, this was a stunning continuation to the story. But I am left hanging until the 6th book.

The story is still a 14 and up book. A must read!

Shadow Demons by Sarra Cannon

Shadow Demons is the 4th book in Sarra Cannons Peachville High Demons book.

Harper isn't sure who to trust, but that is nothing new. Harper knows that the secrets are dark and that they run deep. She just doesn't know how deep they run and how that will affect her. Little does Harper know that some secrets are hidden by those protecting her, and without them she might have died years ago. Can she survive the truth?

This is my favorite book yet in this series. The story is deeply developed by now and you can't help but have a love hate relationship with them. I am intrigued to find out what will happen in book 5 due to how this book ended.

This is YA series and I feel that this book is also appropriate for 14 and up.
